Writing Out Your Testimony
Below are some questions to guide you as you write out your testimony:
1st Paragraph - LIFE BEFORE CHRIST (The “before”)
Describe your life before you became a Christian.
2nd Paragraph - HOW I CAME TO TRUST CHRIST (The “how”)
Describe the circumstances that led to your conversion.
3rd Paragraph - LIFE AFTER TRUSTING IN CHRIST (The “after”)
Describe how your life has changed since you became a Christian.
Pray and ask God to give you guidance to tell your story of how He has changed your life!
Keep your testimony limited to one-page typed (single space), or two-pages (double spaced).
1st Paragraph - LIFE BEFORE CHRIST (The “before”)
Describe your life before you became a Christian.
- Share honestly, what were you like before you were saved?
- What was your life centered on? Who or what did you live for?
- What kinds of struggles, fears, emptiness, and sin were in your life?
2nd Paragraph - HOW I CAME TO TRUST CHRIST (The “how”)
Describe the circumstances that led to your conversion.
- What event, person or message drew you to Jesus?
- What happened that made you believe the gospel message: that all have sinned, Jesus died for those sins, and rose again.
- Describe how/when you realized you were a sinner in need of Jesus as a Savior. And how/when you made the decision to trust Him as Savior and follow Him as Lord of your life.
- When and where did you make this decision (its alright if it wasn’t one moment, but describe the process)
- Who helped you receive Christ as your personal Savior, or who was influential in this decision?
- Mention any Scripture verses that helped you make your decision.
3rd Paragraph - LIFE AFTER TRUSTING IN CHRIST (The “after”)
Describe how your life has changed since you became a Christian.
- What has changed in your life since you started walking with Jesus? How has Christ filled the voids you mentioned in Part 1? Share specific changes in your character, attitude, or perspective. Mention any joy, peace, purpose, or new sense of hope because of walking with Jesus.
- Tip: Be honest and realistic—do not suggest your life is perfect, but highlight that you now have a Savior to help you through struggles.
- What is your favorite Bible verse?
